SBE ENTERTAINMENT CASE STUDY

MSEM has built up a very strong relationship with SBE Entertainment and Bolthouse Productions that spans services including live performance, background music, selection of music for website and video and other special projects.

The relationship began in 2006 when Bolthouse Productions asked Michael to DJ a weekly event at the soon to open LA lounge, Hyde. After several well received sets, promoter and nightlife Scion Brent Bolthouse asked him to design background music for an upcoming series of Phillipe Starck-designed sushi restaurants called Katsuya.

After working closely with Starck, MSEM selected the music and deployed its state-of-the art background music system to custom tailor the sound to the different business patterns and areas of the Brentwood restaurant. MSEM now operates its system at the Hollywood & Vine location and will soon be launching Glendale and Downtown LA in 2008.

SBE then asked MSEM to music design their corporate website, sbe.com. The company owns a variety of the top nightclubs, restaurants and hotels in LA, Vegas and Miami as well as a movie production company called Element Films. Given their focus on entertainment, MSEM created a dream-like intro track that makes the viewer feel like they are watching a movie before being dropped into the world of SBE. When the viewer lands in the city, they travel through the different businesses of the company accompanied by a unique song.

From that point forward, SBE has asked MSEM to develop everything from music for their corporate video to background music for the new LA restaurant Foxtail. Michael Smith continues to DJ events for Bolthouse including the recent Oscar party for the Endeavor Talent Agency.

MSEM looks forward to a bright future with SBE including work on upcoming CD compilations, background music venues and live DJ performances.
